Three films celebrating the best parts of Massachusetts: from a bike trip to P-town to portraits of our festival founder, George Mansour as well as the new community hub, The Pryde.

Stories from our Community Shorts Program:

Looking for Love in All The Wrong Places

dir. David Emmanuel Jauniaux/9min/Canada

Thomas and David, two best friends, are looking for love. To fight off the gloom of being single and gay, they embark on a magical, fabulously queer adventure in the kingdom of gays: Cape Cod.

Living in Pryde

dirs. Rob Tokanel, Emily Judem, Jack Doyle/38min/USA

Living in Pryde is a short documentary that follows residents of The Pryde - New England’s first LGBTQ+ welcoming, affordable senior housing community. At a time when LGBTQ+ rights face renewed attack, the film explores the experiences of a generation that came of age with few legal protections against harassment or discrimination. Residents tap into a lifetime of resilience to meet the current political moment as they reflect on surviving the AIDS crisis, fighting for same-sex marriage and coming out as transgender.

Thirteen Buttons to Heaven

dir. Andrzej Dec-Williams/50min/USA

THIRTEEN BUTTONS TO HEAVEN tells a remarkable story of George Mansour, one of the pre-eminent independent film bookers in the US history. He is - after all - the man who gave us John Waters, Sean Cunningham and Wes Craven. He is the man who for many years championed independent cinema, showing films we would never had a chance to see without him. He is also the founder of the prestigious Boston Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, fourth oldest in the country. Our movie chronicles his humble beginnings, early clashes with an antigay policies of the USA government, up to the time he became a scion of an independent film movement.

Please note: There are no Coolidge Member comps to Wicked Queer Film Festival screenings.
