The mission of the nonprofit Coolidge Corner Theatre is to entertain, inform, and engage — building a vital community through film culture. We believe in the power of film to generate understanding and empathy; to educate and inspire; and to illuminate the human experience.
The Coolidge is committed to maintaining an environment that is safe, respectful, and free of harassment and discrimination. Behavior which is disrespectful or disruptive to Coolidge staff or other patrons, and/or which might affect the enjoyment of the Coolidge by patrons, and/or might reasonably pose a danger to the health and safety of staff or other patrons, will not be tolerated.
This Code of Conduct applies to everyone at the venue and participants in our social media channels. Audiences, staff, donors, members, board members, vendors, press, and anyone else associated with the Coolidge will all be held to the same standards. We reserve the right to remove or ban any person who does not adhere to the Code of Conduct.
Although safety can be different for each individual related to personal preferences or expressed identities, we define it to mean an environment that is free of targeted or direct harassment and discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender performance, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, class, age, or ability. Harassment, threatening behavior, and violence will absolutely not be tolerated.
What to Do
If you are at the Theatre and experience or witness any form of harassment or discrimination, please contact the nearest staff member. A manager will address the situation. If you feel unsafe in your immediate situation, alert our staff, move to a safe location and—if the situation warrants it—dial 911.
Additionally, you can reach out directly to [email protected] if you believe you’ve observed or experienced a violation of this policy, and the Coolidge will work to assess the situation and to respond as soon as possible. Please remember that notifying the Coolidge does not constitute or replace a notification to local law enforcement. Emails sent to [email protected] will be received by the Executive Director & CEO and Deputy Director.
