On Monday, April 28, 2025, the Coolidge Corner Theatre honored legendary director, writer, and producer Francis Ford Coppola with The Coolidge Award for his extraordinary contributions to cinema. Coppola was at the Coolidge for a special screening of his latest film, Megalopolis, where he participated in a live, interactive discussion with Prof. Juliet B. Schor, an economist and sociologist at Boston College, and the film’s composer, Osvaldo Golijov.
In her Coolidge Award presentation remarks, Coolidge Corner Theatre Executive Director & CEO Katherine Tallman heralded Coppola as “one of cinema’s towering figures, whose name has become synonymous with the medium. He is the visionary behind some of the greatest films of all time, and his work continues to inspire generations of filmmakers. His artistry, curiosity, and independent spirit know no limits, and we are greatly honored to recognize him tonight.”

Thalberg Memorial Award) director, writer, and producer of such films as Patton, The Godfather Trilogy, American Graffiti, The Conversation, Apocalypse Now, The Outsiders, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and his latest epic, Megalopolis.
