The Coolidge will honor Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Emmy award winning actress Julianne Moore with the Coolidge Award on Thursday, April 25, recognizing her iconic performances and distinctive contributions to cinema.
On Thursday evening Moore will participate in an onstage conversation, followed by the presentation of the Coolidge Award in the theater’s authentically restored Art Deco Moviehouse. That same day the Coolidge will also host an afternoon screening of the recently released and critically acclaimed Gloria Bell. Following the screening, Moore will participate in an audience Q&A. From the Chilean writer-director Sebastian Lelio, Gloria Bell features a vibrant performance from Moore opposite co-star John Turturro, and set to a spirited soundtrack of hit songs from the ‘70s and ‘80s.
Selected screenings from Moore’s filmography are scheduled at the Coolidge leading up to her arrival and include: Magnolia on Tuesday, April 16; The Kids Are All Right on Wednesday, April 17; a midnight screening of Hannibal on Friday, April 19; and Far From Heaven on Tuesday, April 23.
Julianne Moore began her film career in the early ‘90s and quickly emerged as an independent film darling, boasting both perfectly nuanced and dynamic tour-de-force performances. She collaborated with such directors as Robert Altman (Short Cuts), Louis Malle (Vanya on 42nd Street), Todd Haynes (Safe, Far From Heaven, I’m Not There), Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights, Magnolia), Joel and Ethan Cohen (The Big Lebowski), Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are All Right), Tom Kalin (Savage Grace), and Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men). Moore has received multiple awards for her work including an Academy Award, Golden Globe, SAG, and BAFTA in 2015 for Best Actress for her performance in Still Alice.
In addition to her prolific acting career, Julianne Moore is an activist and supporter of gun safety laws, LGBTQ rights and Pay Equality for women.
Advance tickets to the April 25th Coolidge Award ceremony and afternoon screening of Gloria Bell will go on sale to Coolidge members on Friday, March 29 at 11am and to the general public on Monday, April 1 at 11am. Ticket prices to the 2pm afternoon screening are $27 Coolidge members/$30 general admission. Ticket prices to the 8pm evening onstage conversation with Julianne Moore and presentation of the Coolidge Award are $72 Coolidge members/$75 general admission.
