East Meets West This January at Coolidge After Midnite

High flying kicks meet high noon showdowns! The six shooter salutes the samurai sword! Kung Fu Masters rub shoulders with Cowboys, and much more, in our “East Meets West: Martial Arts Action and Spaghetti Westerns” program. Friday nights in January 2018 will feature a mixture of classic and rarely screened Martial Arts epics. On Saturdays, step into the old west as envisioned by Italy’s greatest and gutsiest Spaghetti Western directors.

We start off the month with Akira Kurosawa’s Yojimbo (Friday, January 4) and Sergio Leone’s A Fistful of Dollars (Saturday, January 5)—as Leone's film is a remake of Kurosawa’s and the inspiration behind the Spaghetti Western. From there, the program continues with all the bullets, blades, betrayals and nunchaku you could want, sending stars the likes of Bruce Lee, Franco Nero, Sammo Hung, and Lee Van Cleef fighting their way across our screens.

Friday, January 4: Yojimbo

Saturday, January 5: A Fistful of Dollars

Friday, January 11: Queen Boxer

Saturday, January 12: Django

Friday, January 18: Enter the Dragon

Saturday, January 19: Sabata

Friday, January 25: Eastern Condors

Saturday, January 26: Kill Them All and Come Back Alone
