Romeo & Juliet for the Reagan era.

When a Hollywood punk falls hard for a popular suburban preppie, their respective worlds collide in a culture clash that established the prototype for 80s teen romcom. Directed by Martha Coolidge, starring Nicolas Cage in his screen debut, and featuring a totally tubular soundtrack and indelible L.A. locations, Valley Girl modernized the “opposites attract” coupling for a politically divisive decade. Taught by Maria San Filippo, Associate Professor of Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College.
