Debra Granik
The Coolidge is thrilled to partner with MassArt to pay tribute to one of the most distinctive voices working in independent film today, Debra Granik.
Born in Cambridge, MA, Granik got her start in the Boston grassroots media movement before becoming the acclaimed director of films including Winter's Bone and Leave No Trace. Her films have garnered critical acclaim for their unflinching yet sensitive portrayals of individuals living on the margins of society, and for unforgettable lead performances by then-unknown actors such as Jennifer Lawrence, Vera Farmiga, and Thomasin McKenzie. In 2023, Granik received an honorary doctor of fine arts degree from Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt).
Join us in March and April for a screening of four of her most memorable works.
