Kathryn Bigelow’s Point Break has been widely lauded as a cult action movie classic, yet the full weight of its legacy remains underexamined.

This seminar will consider how the film serves as a watershed moment in action filmmaking, a pioneering example of female auteurism, and a vital exploration of gender, sexuality, and violence on screen.
