Baby, I Don’t Care: The Artistry of Robert Mitchum

Event Date
Tuesday, October 3rd - Tuesday, October 31st
Body

Join long-time Coolidge Instructor Kaj Wilson for an exploration of the life and finest films of this marvelous underrated actor.

Matinee idol, barroom brawler, poet, jailbird and more, Robert Mitchum was the ultimate in cool. In a career that spanned 50 years, Robert Mitchum made over 125 films. His low key and naturalistic acting style combined with his on- and off-screen persona made it all too easy for critics and moviegoers to overlook his artistry and intelligence. This course will explore five of Mitchum’s finest films and marvel at the colorful, contradictory life of Roger Ebert’s favorite actor, the man whom former lover Shirley MacLaine called a “poet with an axe.”

Class Dates: 5 Consecutive Tuesdays, October 3 - 31, 10am-1pm
