In visionary filmmaker David Cronenberg mesmerizing Eastern Promises Viggo Mortensen stars as Nikolai, a ruthless and mysterious Russian who has ties to one of the most dangerous crime families in London.

His carefully maintained existence is jarred when he crosses paths with Anna (Naomi Watts), a midwife who has come across potentially damaging evidence against the family. Their unusual relationship sets off an unstoppable chain of deceit, death and retribution.

Cronenberg: In the Flesh

In eager anticipation of David Cronenberg's return to his body horror roots with Crimes of the Future, we've programmed three weekends of the master filmmaker's work. Dead Ringers and Crash open, followed by Cronenberg's visceral collaborations with actor Viggo Mortensen in A History of Violence and Eastern Promises. Finally, we'll have our minds blown by Scanners and chant "long live the new flesh" at Videodrome!
