The Guide
Body
The Guide was shot in 2012 by Ukrainians and released in Ukraine in 2014. It was not released theatrically in the US or Western European countries.
The story of this two-hour drama is set in the 1930s and revolves around an American boy who is visiting Ukraine with his father. Young Peter becomes caught up in events connected to Soviet efforts to exterminate millions of Ukrainians.
The director of The Guide is Oles Sanin, a leading figure in what has become a sizable Ukrainian film industry. Sanin has remained in Kyiv during the war.
Both Sanin and the producers at Pronto Films have agreed that THE GUIDE may be screened without payment to them as long as ticket proceeds or other donations go to Ukraine relief.
