Staff Pick: 2001: A Space Odyssey

Program Manager & Director of Special Programming Mark Anastasio is here with our very first Coolidge Staff Pick, highlighting Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.

"I know that watching it at home is not the same as seeing it on the big screen," Anastasio says. "But while we're all feeling a little bit cooped up, the film literally does launch you into outer space!" Watch the intro below, and then sit down to watch the film, which is available to rent on most platforms.

In 2018, we screened 2001 for a week on 70mm film, and had star Keir Dullea in person for a Q&A. Along with Anastasio's intro, the full Q&A with Dullea is available on our YouTube channel and embedded below.

About Coolidge Staff Picks

While our building may be closed, we're still here to provide the personalized, curated programming you love. We'll be posting Coolidge Staff Picks that you can rent or stream from home, with short video introductions from staff members! For many of them, we'll also be posting clips from past Q&As, discussions, Science on Screen lectures, and more.
