Globe Docs: Far from the Tree

Body

Far from the Tree follows families meeting extraordinary challenges through love, empathy, and understanding.

This life-affirming documentary encourages us to cherish loved ones for all they are, not who they might have been. Based on Andrew Solomon’s award-winning, critically acclaimed, New York Times bestselling non-fiction book “Far From the Tree: Parents, Children and the Search for Identity.”

Following the film there will be a Q&A with Amanda Platner, PsyD, & Brian Skotko, M.D., M.P.P., moderated by The Boston Globe’s Beverly Beckham. Dr. Platner is a licensed clinical psychologist at Franciscan Children's in Brighton, Mass., who specializes in working with children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families. Dr. Skotko is a board-certified medical geneticist and co-director of the Down Syndrome Program at Massachusetts General Hospital.
