Part of the 2026 Wicked Queer Film Festival!

Open Endings is a story about four queer women in their 30s. Hannah, Mihan, Charlie, and Kit have dated one another at different points in their lives. Now, they share a deep and unbreakable ride-or-die friendship. We follow them as they navigate adulthood, love, friendship, chosen families, and everything in between.

As filmmakers, we believe it's time for queer narratives to gain the visibility they deserve, especially in Philippine cinema, where demand for authentic LGBTQ+ stories continues to grow. We're excited to bring this film to life and contribute to the conversation about queer love and representation.

About the filmmaker:

Nigekl Santos (She/Her/Hers) is a copywriter by day and a filmmaker by heart, balancing a career in advertising with her passion for storytelling. She was a fellow of the 1st Gawad Plaridel Masterclass in Scriptwriting with National Artist Ricky Lee, the 2nd CinePanulat Screenwriting Lab under jun Robles Lana, and the Bahay Konsepto Filmmaking Workshop founded by the late Sigfried Barros-Sanchez.

Her short film Dalaginding Na Si lsang (2019) was a finalist at the CineMarya Women's Short Film Festival and was screened at various national and international platforms, including the 4th European Philippine International Film Festival, Cinema Rehiyon, and the Active Vista Human Rights Film Festival. The film was nominated for Best Short Film and Best Short Film Director at the 37th Star Awards for Movies.

Santos made her full-length debut with Yours Truly, Shirley (2019}, starring Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, which premiered at the CinemaOne Originals Film Festival. She has contributed as a screenwriter to major entertainment companies including Viva Communications Inc., Dreamscape Entertainment, and Rein Entertainment. Open Endings will be her second full-length film, continuing her exploration of heartfelt, character-driven narratives.

Please note: There are no Coolidge Member comps to Wicked Queer Film Festival screenings.
