Young Frankenstein & An American Werewolf in London

Special tribute screening dedicated to The Boston Globe film critic Jay Carr, featuring an introduction by Jake Mulligan.

The scariest comedies of all time on the big screen for Halloween!

Join us for this special All Hallows’ Eve double-feature and see Frankenstein and the Wolf Man like you’ve never seen them before. Comedy legend Mel Brooks' outrageous riff on Mary Shelley's classic story pairs terrifyingly well with Animal House director John Landis’ different kind of animal…

Wear your costumes for a chance to win spooky prizes before the show!

On behalf of the Coolidge Corner Theatre and the Boston Society of Film Critics, we dedicate this screening as a tribute to renowned film critic Jay Carr (1937-2014).  Jay wrote reviews for The New York Post and The Detroit News before joining The Boston Globe in 1983, where he was chief film critic until 2002. His legendary "Vintage Stock" column appeared every Friday in the Globe, just one example of his ardent advocacy of independent film and local theaters committed to preserving the history of cinema. We at the Coolidge are particularly grateful for his support, vital contribution, and legacy.

This special screening will be introduced by film critic Jake Mulligan.
