Welcome to Samurai Summer III.
Samurai Summer debuted in 2021, paying homage to the Coolidge's history of programming Japanese films in the '70s and '80s, with samurai stories being among the most popular. Our first season featured screenings of some of the most thrilling epics of the genre, including Seven Samurai and Yojimbo. Samurai Summer II paired these classic sword fighting movies with films from the West they had influenced.
In 2023, Samurai Summer III returns with screenings of some deeper cuts, including Three Outlaw Samurai, Kill!, an afternoon of the complete Samurai Trilogy, Kwaidan, and much more!
