In 1992, critic B. Ruby Rich coined the term "new queer cinema," describing the emerging movement in independent filmmaking centered on LGBTQ+ themes without the restraint of earlier queer films.

The genre explored queer identities through avant-garde form, depicting rawer, grittier stories. We've selected six films from this era to screen through June!
