The New England Browncoats are hosting the 3rd annual special charity screenings of Joss Whedon's Sci-Fi epic SERENITY to benefit Equality Now. Cult hero Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) seemed to do the impossible when he turned his brilliant-but-cancelled television show Firefly into 2005's SERENITY, a full-on big screen adaptation that rivals all of Lucas' prequels combined with its explosive battles, gripping special effects fantastic new worlds, and memorable characters. With similar screenings are happening all around the globe each year, all told this worldwide event has collected over $160,000 for this worthy cause. Founded in 1992, Equality Now is an organization dedicated to the protection and promotion of the human rights of women around the world. The New England Browncoats will also be collecting non-perishable food items for the Greater Boston Food Bank at each screening. Anyone donating to this cause at the screening will be entered into a drawing to win prizes including actual props used the film. |
